MoneyTracker UK links real bank accounts and manages real money, so it needs to work for everyone - including people using VoiceOver, Voice Control, larger text sizes, or other accessibility features. This page explains what's supported today.

What's supported

VoiceOver

Every screen can be navigated and operated with VoiceOver. Icon-only buttons (adding a transaction, filtering, the profile menu, and so on) have proper spoken labels rather than just an icon name, and purely decorative images and icons are hidden from the screen reader so they don't clutter navigation. Charts that repeat information already shown as text (like the assets vs. liabilities breakdown chart on the Net Worth screen, which repeats figures already listed below it) are hidden the same way, since reading the underlying numbers is clearer than reading a chart; the spending-by-category chart, where the chart is the primary way to see the data, has each bar individually labelled instead.

Voice Control

Because interactive elements have real spoken labels rather than bare icons, they're addressable by name with Voice Control commands like "tap Add transaction" or "tap Filter transactions", not just by numbered overlays.

Larger Text

Text throughout the app uses Dynamic Type and scales with your system text size setting, including the larger accessibility sizes. The large net worth figures on the Dashboard and net worth breakdown screen use scalable typography rather than a fixed size, so they grow too.

Dark Interface

The whole app follows your system appearance setting (or your own in-app override, under Settings → Display) using standard system colours throughout, rather than any hardcoded light-only or dark-only colours.

Differentiate Without Colour Alone

Nowhere in the app is colour the only way to tell things apart. Money in versus money out, assets versus liabilities, and recurring transactions are all also shown with an icon, a symbol, or a text label alongside the colour, so the meaning still comes through for anyone who can't rely on colour alone.

Sufficient Contrast

Text and interactive elements use the system's built-in colours (labels, secondary labels, tinted backgrounds at readable strength) rather than custom low-contrast combinations, so they stay legible against both light and dark backgrounds.

Reduced Motion

If you have Reduce Motion turned on in iOS, the first-launch onboarding carousel skips its slide animation and simply switches pages instead.

Captions and Audio Descriptions

MoneyTracker UK doesn't include any video or audio content, so there's nothing that needs captions or audio descriptions. We'll revisit this if that ever changes.
