Terms of Service

Last updated: 21st July 2026

1. Acceptance of these terms

By using MoneyTracker UK, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. The first time you open the app, you'll be asked to confirm you've read and accept both before you can continue - if you don't agree, please don't use the app. If we make material changes to these Terms, continuing to use the app afterwards means you accept the updated version (see "Changes" below).

2. The service

MoneyTracker UK is a personal finance app for iOS - not a bank. We are not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority, do not hold or move money, and cannot make payments on your behalf. The app simply displays financial information and helps you organise it: data you enter or import yourself (manual accounts, transactions, budgets, and goals all work with or without a linked bank), data retrieved from your bank via Open Banking, or data imported from a PDF bank statement. On top of that, it provides budgeting, recurring bill detection, net worth tracking, savings goal tools, and Spending Trends (on-device AI-generated insights and suggestions about your spending, powered by Apple Intelligence). All of this data - whether you created it yourself or it came from your bank - is processed and stored on your own device and your personal iCloud account - see the Privacy Policy for details.

Before general release, MoneyTracker UK may be made available early through Apple's TestFlight beta programme. Beta builds are provided for testing purposes only, may contain bugs or incomplete features, may stop working or expire without notice, and may change significantly before public release. Installing a beta build through TestFlight also means you've agreed to Apple's own Beta Software Program Agreement and TestFlight terms, which apply alongside these Terms.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to use MoneyTracker UK at all. Linking a bank, and using Spending Trends, go further and are restricted to adults aged 18 and over - the app checks this using Apple's Declared Age Range API before you can use those specific features, with no other way to confirm your age instead - see the Privacy Policy's "Age verification" section for how that works. This 18+ restriction applies regardless of your own bank's age policy - even if your bank offers accounts to 16-17 year-olds, you need to be 18 to link it here.

4. Bank connections

Linking a bank account is handled by Lunch Flow, a third-party open banking data platform - not us. You'll need your own Lunch Flow account to connect a bank, which Lunch Flow bills you for directly and separately from MoneyTracker UK (see lunchflow.app for their current terms and pricing). You authenticate with your bank and with Lunch Flow directly on their own site; we never receive or store your bank or Lunch Flow login credentials. You can remove a linked connection from within the app, or manage or revoke access at any time directly through your own Lunch Flow account.

The balances and transactions you see depend on your bank and Lunch Flow making that data available accurately and on time - neither of which we control. A sync can occasionally fail, lag, or miss something, and figures can differ slightly from your bank's own records while that catches up. Always check your bank's own app or website before making a financial decision based on what you see here.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to: reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the app; access or attempt to access our backend, API, or Lunch Flow connection other than through the app itself as intended; interfere with, disrupt, or place an unreasonable burden on our infrastructure; or use MoneyTracker UK for any unlawful purpose or in a way that breaches these Terms. We may suspend or terminate your access if you don't - see "Termination" below.

6. Disclaimers

MoneyTracker UK is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including that the app will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free. Budgets, recurring bill detection, net worth calculations, and any other automated figures in the app are estimates based on the data available to it - a miscategorised transaction or a bill we haven't detected yet can throw off a total - and are provided for informational purposes only. Nothing in the app is financial advice, and you should independently verify anything important before acting on it.

Spending Trends' insights and recommendations are generated on-device by Apple Intelligence. They can be inaccurate, and any prices or plan comparisons it suggests reflect the model's own estimate rather than verified, current pricing - treat them as a starting point, not a stated fact, and check current details yourself before switching anything.

7. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss or damage that was not a reasonably foreseeable consequence of us breaking these Terms or acting negligently, or for any loss of profit or business where you use the app for business purposes. Because your financial data is stored on your own device and your personal iCloud account rather than centrally by us, we don't hold a copy of it and can't restore it if it's lost through something outside our control - device loss or damage, problems with your iCloud account, or an issue at Apple's end - and we're not liable for that loss either. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can't legally be excluded or limited.

8. Intellectual property

The MoneyTracker UK app, including its design, branding, and underlying code, belongs to us (or our licensors) and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. Using the app doesn't grant you any rights to it beyond what's needed to use it as intended on your own device. Your own data - your accounts, transactions, budgets, goals, and anything else you enter or import - belongs entirely to you; because it's stored on your device and your own iCloud account rather than ours, we don't hold, and don't claim, any rights to it.

9. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to MoneyTracker UK if you breach these Terms, misuse our backend or Lunch Flow connection, or if we stop offering the service altogether - we'll give reasonable notice where we can, except where immediate action is needed (for example, to prevent abuse). You can stop using the app at any time simply by deleting it. Because your financial data lives on your device and your own iCloud account, terminating access doesn't affect that data directly - it stays exactly where it already was, under your control. We don't hold any bank-connection tokens ourselves - those live only on your device and within your own Lunch Flow account - so there's nothing bank-related on our backend to delete; any App Attest key associated with your device simply stops being used. If you'd separately joined our waitlist, your email is handled as described in the Privacy Policy.

10. Changes

If we make material changes to these terms, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you're a consumer, the courts of England and Wales have non-exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from these Terms - meaning you can also bring a claim in the courts of the part of the UK you live in, if that's Northern Ireland or Scotland instead.
